It takes a village to raise a child
- African proverb
About Us
Little Monkey is here to help the community easily find and review child-friendly facilities in Hong Kong. Whether you’re first time parents, a caretaker such as a helper or grandparents, or just need a little bit of help when friends with little ones come to visit, we want to be your go to website. We believe in making the going out experience with a child a fun and enjoyable one by helping you quickly find and decide where to go based on other parents’ and caretakers’ experience.
Our hope is to help shape and inspire HK to be a more child friendly city. But like the African proverb, to achieve this, we need the whole village and that starts with you.
Chhin Lee
Born in Vietnam and raised in the US by Chinese parents, I straddle both Western and Asian culture. So when my college study-abroad-counsellor asked me where I wanted to study, the answer was easy.
I picked Hong Kong, this city where East meets West, and found a home that was very similar to myself and instantly fell in love. Also, I met the husband here who was on the same program but this section isn't really about him. After our time abroad in HK, we couldn’t stop missing this city and decided we needed to come back, so moved here from NYC in 2012.
Fast forward to 2016, I became the mother to a superhero daughter named Avelyn. She was aptly named “Little Bunny” by the nurse for her cuteness but also the “Strong One” by the doctor for her screams that could be heard through space. The other patrons at the restaurants we go to can attest to this.
The idea for Little Monkey came when I was frustrated with having to search for different places and ask different people for advice. All I wanted was a place to go to change a diaper or get a good meal without having Avelyn sit on my lap and spill food on me. The best part was everyone gave me different answers! Raising little superheroes, I know parents in HK will need this information as much as I do. After months of brainstorming and bouncing ideas off of the hubby, who is one of those super optimistic types that keeps saying go for it but can’t tell me how, I’ve decided to just go for it.
